Sanding Grid
thingiverse
This custom design is tailored to my engineering lab's needs, stemming from when the room served as a woodshop equipped with an expansive dust collection system. A prominent 5-inch line leading to the table saw gets temporarily disconnected to accommodate this device when executing heavy sanding tasks or operating a Dremel that generates significant dust particles. To prevent tiny debris from being pulled in through the holes, which measure a precise 1/4 inch (equivalent to 6 millimeters), the end fitting snugly into the 5-inch line features a secure friction hold. This custom model originated as a large print project I executed on a MakerBot Z18. When it comes to fabricating this design using 3D printing technology, users should align their printer grid downward and abstain from utilizing any support structures. Additionally, ensure that the final product undergoes at least two shells and maintains an infill rate of not less than twenty percent to guarantee a strong, solid finish.
