Sanding Block
thingiverse
This sanding block evolved from a lively discussion on RCGroups, where I thoroughly reviewed numerous existing models available on Thingiverse. The block employs metal hardware to firmly hold the top in place and apply tension to the paper. I utilized two of these bolts: https://www.mcmaster.com/92240a544 and two of these wingnuts: https://www.mcmaster.com/90876a650 However, those are quite fancy wingnuts, and simpler ones (with no more than 1" diameter wings), accompanied by washers, would also work effectively. This requires a piece of paper that is just slightly over a quarter sheet in size. You can print a pair of the hex plugs to cover the opening on the bottom after inserting the bolt. I secured these with thin CA and then lightly sanded the bottom to achieve a smooth finish. I printed this design on an i3 clone using PLA at .2 with 25% infill, and it feels remarkably solid in my hand with the metal hardware installed.
