Update 19.5.2019 Don't build this right now, I have a version that's improved and ready for use. I've been working on a new design that addresses some issues with the original. It's designed to be more reliable and easier to use. The new design includes several key improvements: * Improved belt routing: The belts are now routed in a way that eliminates crossing and ensures smooth movement. * Enhanced motor mounts: The motor mounts have been redesigned to provide better clearance between the idler and printed part. * Simplified enclosure: The enclosure has been simplified to make it easier to assemble and use. I've also made some changes to the firmware to improve performance and add new features. These include: * Individual addressable LED lights: The WS2812B lights are now individually addressable over G-Code, allowing for more complex lighting effects. * Sensorless homing: The trinamics drivers now have sensorless homing capabilities, eliminating the need for end switches. I'm excited to share this new design with you and hear your feedback. Please let me know if you have any issues building it or if you need more instructions. Tips: * Use a high-quality sand: I recommend using very fine sand (.1mm grains) from an art supply store. It flows well and creates a smooth pattern. * Keep the dust clean: Make sure to keep the area clean and cover it with plexy glass to prevent dust from getting into the sand pattern. * Play with speed: Experiment with different speeds to find the optimal setting for the best plotting results. * Use a silicon mat: Place a 1-2mm thick silicon mat under the steel ball to reduce noise and improve movement. Please let me know if you have any issues or need more instructions. I'm happy to help. Update 21.5.2018 I've uploaded a new version of the design that fixes an issue with the clearance between the idler and printed part on the Motor L+R parts. If you already printed the old parts, just use some M3 spacer's between motor and bracket. My first prototype is up and running, and I'm excited to share it with you. Please let me know if you have any issues building it or if you need more instructions. I'll be working on uploading patterns soon, so stay tuned for that. If you have any ideas for patterns or features, please share them with me! Current projects: * Enclosure: I'm currently working on designing an enclosure that's easy to assemble and use. * Power supply mounting: I'm looking into options for mounting the power supply in a way that's safe and efficient. * Creating patterns: I'll be sharing some patterns soon, so stay tuned for that. Updates coming soon!
