You likely know this by another name, but essentially it serves as a crucial joining mechanism that securely holds together two halves of a sand casting mold frame for effectively casting metal components. The smaller apertures (1/8") are designed specifically to accommodate screws that can be screwed into the frame to maintain stability and structural integrity. On the other hand, the larger hole is optimized to fit a 5/16" rod, which facilitates alignment control by keeping the two halves precisely in place temporarily until they become fixed due to other mechanical connections or forces at play. To achieve the optimal mold structure, you print four of these mechanisms, placing them on opposing sides on each half.
