This bronze figurine portrays Saint John of Nepomuk, a Bohemian saint who lived around 1345 until March 20, 1393. Born in the Czech Republic, he was drowned in the Vltava River at the order of Wenceslaus, King of the Romans and Bohemia's monarch. Later stories claim that John served as confessor to the queen of Bohemia, declining to reveal secrets shared during confession. As a result, John is considered the first martyr of the Seal of Confession, a guardian against false accusations and, due to his death by drowning, a protector from flooding and water-related tragedies.
