San Gennaro Catacomb Fresco, Napoli (18B)
sketchfab
The niched recess (arcosolium) accommodating at least three burials is situated within the Catacombs of San Gennaro in Naples. These catacombs were utilized for burial purposes from the 2nd century AD through to medieval times. Only a thin layer of white plaster remains intact on the front part of the arch, while the remaining wall sections are unpainted. A possible recess on the right-hand side might have served as a lamp holder. Processed from 217 photographs and 2 laser scans. This outcome is a collaborative effort between GDH, the Zamani Project, Università degli Studi di Napoli “L’Orientale,” and the Catacombe di Napoli administration. The processing was conducted using Reality Capture. Detailed descriptions were provided by Senior Professor Dr. Dieter Korol from Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster. This project is designated as Fresco 18b.
