San Antonio de Padua

sketchfab

Artwork depicting a bust of Saint Anthony of Padua, captured in accordance with his traditional iconography, as a young friar dressed in the brown Franciscan habit. The figure is stuffed and tied at the waist with a cord. A part of the right arm is mutilated. On the chest, a circular reliquary opens up, adorned with a golden frame made of simple "ces". It likely held some remains related to this saint originally. Due to its stylistic characteristics and the design of the cartouche on the reliquary, this image should be classified as Sevillian Baroque sculpture from the early seventeenth century. The repaints it has undergone make it difficult to study.
