Samsung offers a virtual reality headset compatible with the Galaxy S7, which causes the phone to become extremely hot and shuts down after just 15 minutes due to overheating issues. To address this problem, I designed an adapter that fits a CPU heat sink (measuring 50 x 50 x 24mm in height) perfectly. It's essential to add a 1mm silicone thermal pad between the heat sink and the phone for optimal heat transfer. The adapter clips onto the phone gently squeezing the pad without requiring any glue or adhesive paste, allowing it to make direct contact with the phone's surface while protecting it from scratches. With this setup, I was able to use the VR headset continuously for over an hour without encountering any shutdowns, and I didn't test it beyond 90 minutes. Despite these precautions, the screen side of the phone may still become hot due to normal usage.
