Samsung SmartThings Multipurpose Sensor spacer

I've been frustrated several times mounting a Samsung SmartThings Multipurpose Sensor as a door open/close indicator because some doors have a large offset between the door and the door frame.

You can mount your Multipurpose Sensor directly to this thing, which provides an 8mm positive offset. This is useful, for example, on sliding doors. The stock mount provides only a 2mm positive offset.

The stock mount is also hollow on the back, which makes it hard to mount with anything besides screws. I've left off screw holes and provide a flat back so you can get a nice mating surface for 3M Command Strips (size Medium is a perfect fit).

There's two files:

Provides a rounded interior. This looks better, but Tinkercad seems to generate slightly odd STLs in this case and results in strange slicing. Be sure to check out the sliced layer view in your slicer. I printed it and it works great, it's just not ideal as it creates some interior walls that should be fill.

Provides a squared-off interior (exterior is still rounded). This model is much more solid, but doesn't look quite as finished. Might good as a base for further modifications, but #1 served my needs so I didn't take it any further.

If you need less offset than 8mm, sink the print into the bed using your slicer.

Print Settings

Printer:

Monoprice MP Select Mini

Rafts:

No

Supports:

No

Resolution:

0.2

Infill:

20

Notes:

No supports required.
