You don't have to build the entire trapdoor if you can just make the hook, attach it securely with plastic screws that are 2.5 in diameter but keep them short, and trim the plastic slightly inside the trapdoor if needed for a perfect fit. Properly adjusted, this setup works flawlessly. It's not a solution that will solve all your problems, but it does prevent unnecessary printing and allows you to make the part in two stages at once, which is beneficial for cooling. This approach also makes it easier to replace the part when the trapdoor needs to be rebuilt.
