Samsung Microwave Handle Repair Bracket

Newer Samsung microwaves use a cheap plastic part to join the two ends of the door handle to the door assembly. These can break over time (in my case, two years), and there are no replacements, only complete handle assemblies starting at $70USD and up. This is a replacement bracket you can print, and it fits quite nicely into the spot it needs to go. I just used this to repair my microwave handle, and saved a good chunk of money. Thankfully, it is a simple job and you actually only need two tools to accomplish it. Here is the procedure: 1) Print part (as oriented in file, supports yes, brim yes, ABS recommended but I used PLA YOLO, 0.2mm layers are fine 2) Trim part, remove support materials. There will be supports inside the hole where a screw needs to go, recommend using a hobby knife to remove what you can and then carefully drilling the rest out. Use a smaller bit than you think as it would be easy to bore the hole out too large for the screw. 3) Using a putty knife or the knife that frequently comes with 3D printers to remove prints from a build plate, gently pry the plastic shield from the inside of the door. It is just pressed in and will easily come off. 4) Insert the new part into the handle, press the handle back into place. 5) There will be a corresponding Phillips head screw underneath the plastic shield, use a drill to carefully tighten the screw while providing pressure from the handle side. DO NOT STRIP THE PART, GO EASY. 6. Once the handle is firmly attached, pop the plastic shiled back in place with gentle pressure from your hands. 7. Done, back to microwaving!
