Samsung Gear VR Rechargable HMD Tracking Ball
thingiverse
I use a rechargeable light-weight tracking ball on my Samsung Gear VR. It weighs only 16 grams and is designed for use with the PSMove Service in Steam VR. The base of the case fits neatly under the front lip of my Samsung Gear VR, making it easy to remove without any need for velcro or other attachments. This tracking ball is so light that I don't even notice it's there. My Gear VR weighs 344 grams on its own, but with the tracking ball attached, it reaches a total weight of 360 grams - still very manageable. Battery life has been impressive, lasting from February 18th to March 12th without needing a recharge. I've used it for at least 20 hours or more in that time. Here are the parts I used to make this tracking ball: * Adafruit mini lipo charger * An on/off DPDT switch salvaged from elsewhere * A 200mAh 3.7v Li-Po battery with a 402030 configuration * Duinotech 5050 RGB LED * A white Ping-Pong ball I used the following tools to assemble this project: * Superglue * Hot glue gun * Soldering iron * Solder * Flux pen
