Sometimes, the phone wouldn't charge because it wasn't sitting properly or had gotten moved while resting on the charger. A wall-mounted dock seemed like a better solution. Next, I decided that it could serve as a charger-stand too, so I added a small stand to the back of it. The tolerance for the phone area can be adjusted to fit different cases. As it stands now, it fits a bare phone and one with a thin case snugly. The front can also be adjusted for more screen area if needed. At first, this was just intended as a simple charging station, but I'm already working on an improved version that will address these issues.
