The wreckage was discovered by Arkeologikonsult and is situated directly in the heart of Stockholm's city center, specifically within Kungsträdgården. SMTM has provided invaluable assistance with documentation efforts. This remarkable vessel is a carvel-built ship that has been pinpointed to the late 1590s era. It is highly likely that it has been identified as Samson, which was constructed in Hälsingland all the way back in 1599. As an innovative hybrid, this ship was designed to serve both as a cargo vessel and a naval warship, boasting between 10-20 guns. Certain distinctive features in its construction can also be observed on other wrecks of similar vintage, such as Elefanten (1554) and Mars (1563).
