I am a sort of cheap guy. I usually do not spend more than necessary - with the exception of some workshop tools, which I expect to last longer in return for more spending. I wanted to know if the filament is stored sufficiently dry in my samla containers. A plethora of digital hygrometer sensors in all shapes and sizes can be found on aliexpress but they all require a few button cells per year to work, which is not quite environmental friendly in the long run - and it costs. So I went for these simple buggers on Aliexpress which will never need a battery. And - let's be honest - in our use case we need no exact reporting to the percent - knowing whether it is "quite dry" or "somewhat damp" is totally sufficient to the task. Should you have trouble understanding the instructions below, have a look at the pictures, they might be helpful. When the hygrometers arrive you need to snap off the outer ring which holds the front glass. Remove the glass and snap the ring back on (if you do not, the dial of the hygrometer will get stuck later.). The holder is designed to be installed using three regular "#6-32 PC screws" which are commonly used on PC cases and everybody who ever had a PC probably has a bunch of those lying around. You don't need the fine-threaded 3mm variant commonly used for harddrives and motherboards but the slightly more coarse-threaded version used on slot brackets, for example. read the printing section before you print. Once the holder has finished printing use a T9 torx or similar to clean out the screw holes a bit. Then drive your screw into each hole once and fully to prefabricate a thread in the plastic. Use a marker with the holder to mark the three holes on your samla and drill them with a 4mm wood drill. Finally snap the hygrometer into the holder and install it using the three screws.
