Halloween Design Competition WINNER! - Curiosity Cabinet Specimen 165b (Lucanidae Chiroptera. loc: Guatemala) In the heart of the rainforest's Northern point, near Laguna El Repasto, I spotted a faint glint of light emanating from a petrified tree at an estimated elevation of fifty feet. Upon closer inspection, I discovered that the light was being reflected by the wings of a creature that initially appeared to be a horned beetle. However, upon further examination, it became clear that the wings actually belonged to a far more terrifying specimen - one I had never encountered before. With horns protruding from its beaked head and unmistakable mammal features like those of a common English bat, this specimen is truly a horror to behold. To capture its menacing appearance, I recommend printing it at a size of 20cm wingtip-to-wingtip, using real pins to add an eerie sense of realism.
