Medical masks are not replaced by these makeshift designs. A local hospital requested me to create this emergency plan as they feared running out of their standard issue medical masks. Proper Personal Protective Equipment should be used whenever it's available. This mask was designed at the request of a local hospital to serve as an interim solution in case they exhaust their supply of standard issue masks. I'm currently waiting for a meeting with a mask fitment specialist at the hospital to discuss its usability and effectiveness. This makeshift mask is named Salus, after the Roman god of safety and well-being.
