# Squish and Level Test - SALT Fast printing low filament consumption test print designed to expose bed level/height issues. The pattern printed consists of parallel lines, twice the width of a 0.4 nozzle width, with consistent gaps between them. ## Bed Level Calibration The gap between the print head and the bed must be optimized. If it is too small, resulting in excessive first layer squishing, the line gap will be too narrow. Conversely, if the gap is too large, a noticeable gap may appear between the merged plastic lines. Adjust the bed as necessary and reprint until all four gaps display accurate alignment. ## Parametric Adjustments * Set the actual dimensions of your print bed with `bed_x` and `bed_y`. * Ensure that `first_layer_thick` matches the first layer setting in the slicer. * Verify that `nozzle_width` aligns with both the slicer's and the actual nozzle settings. * The default margin is 20mm, allowing for optional skirting space.
