Salt & Pepper Shakers for the Chemistry Nerd

Salt & Pepper Shakers for the Chemistry Nerd

If you're a chemistry enthusiast like me, you'll appreciate this. Due to the immense popularity of the Coffee & Sugar containers on Thingiverse - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3448687 I decided to design some Salt and Pepper shakers featuring the chemical structure of their active ingredients prominently displayed on the container. These shakers have an inner lid and an outer lid, with the inner lid secured in place by a small ridge on the bottle that aligns perfectly with an indentation on the inner lid. If the inner lid doesn't fit snugly inside the top lid, simply sand it down to allow for smooth rotation around the inner lid, exposing either the large hole or the small holes to dispense salt or pepper as desired. A second ridge on the bottle fits neatly into an indentation on the outer lid, preventing the lid from falling off and resulting in a meal that's either too salty or peppery. If the lids are slightly loose, reprint them with uniform scaling adjustments of 0.1 or 0.2 mm using your slicer, or use a file or sandpaper to fine-tune them. Have fun experimenting, and I'd love to see this design printed in two colors using a dual-extruder printer.
