Salt/Pepper Pig

Salt/Pepper Pig

thingiverse

This 3D printable pig features a large cavity for storing salt or pepper, along with nostril openings to facilitate pouring. The creator designed it on the verge of acquiring a MakerBot. Remarkably, this design appeared in the New York Times! (http://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/05/nyregion/05about.html). A big thank you to those who printed the pig before its creator could. An updated version V2 is now available, where the pig's tail has been replaced with the filling plug. Version 3 also exists, featuring hole-pierced feet that can be filled with sugru for improved grip. This little piggy indeed made it big! It was featured on MakerBot's blog (http://www.makerbot.com/blog/2011/11/17/makerbot-sugru-heart/) and had its feet added. You can spot this famous pig in the background of a Cylon Santa photo on Flickr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/makerbot/6390319455/). The creator allows individuals or businesses to sell prints of the pig for a small fee, provided prior permission is obtained. To use this piggy bank, print both 'pig.stl' and 'pigtail.stl', fill it with salt, and then screw the pigtail into its back as a plug. You may need to drill the nostril holes for easy salt pouring.
