Salt dehumidifier
thingiverse
I am designing a salt dehumidifier for storage boxes.\nTypically, when I store items in the garage or attic, I place them in plastic containers with lids and add a small can of calcium-chloride salt to keep humidity levels low inside. However, this method is not ideal due to potential metal corrosion from salt exposure, prompting me to create a plastic container specifically for storing salt.\nThis new design has a top and bottom section. The top contains the salt that absorbs moisture from the air, while a small hole in the bottom allows water to drain into the lower part of the container. A O-ring seals the two parts together, secured by three M4 screws that can be easily removed for emptying excess water.\nNote: The holes on this design are intended for brass inserts; I will release an updated version with smaller holes soon.\nUpdate: A new file featuring bolt-sized M4 screw holes has been uploaded, allowing users to print the water container and simply screw in a M4 screw.\nupdate_2 After two months of use, a picture demonstrates how much water can accumulate in the container when placed inside a box with lid in a relatively dry garage without direct heat but adequate ventilation.\nUpdate_3 This design is no longer necessary; see my new version 2 at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1391314
