The Chapter House of the Cathedral of Oviedo (Photogrammetry Scan WIP) This is the oldest part of the cathedral; it started in 1293 and finished in 1314, making it probably one of the earliest Gothic structures in Asturias. Located next to the west gallery of the cloister, it's a square-shaped space covered with a vault over arches, whose ribs converge into a central keystone. It has always been the meeting place for the Council and the Juntas del Principado. In this room, the war against Napoleon Bonaparte was declared in 1808. In this room, you can see, although they don't belong to it, the altarpiece of Lamentations or the Lamentation over the Dead Christ, where, together with donors Juan de Candamo and his wife Catalina, a large procession of people and saints appears. You can also see what's left of the choir stalls made from high-quality walnut wood, with the Asturian theme of the Cross of the Angels in the center of the backrest.
