Saint Dominic
thingiverse
Saint Dominic, fragment of an altarpiece. Attributed to the workshop of Master Arnt (active in Kalkar from 1476 to 1484 and deceased in Zwolle in 1492), Kalkar, circa 1480, oak. Musée du Cinquantenaire (Brussels, Belgium). Created with ReMake and ReCap Pro software from AutoDesk. The founder of the Dominicans sets his right foot on a dog. As per tradition, Dominic's mother supposedly dreamed that she would give birth to a canine holding a lit torch in its mouth, which it would use to set the world ablaze. This attribute also illustrates a word play made on the saint's Latin name, "Domini Canis": the Lord's Dog. Follow me on Twitter at @GeoffreyMarchal for more updates.
