Saint Cyprien

Ancient limestone statue from Périgord, approximately 1.50 m in height, depicting Saint Cyprien and his dog, a hermit who, according to legend, lived in the 7th century in a cave overlooking the Dordogne Valley (the Fages caves which overlook the current village of St Cyprien). Over time, a religious community would have grown around him and an abbey would have been founded. In 2018, Saint Cyprien hosted the 99th Félibrée (The Félibrée is an annual folk festival organized in a Périgord town or village). The statue was installed on this occasion. You can see it on a small square located at the end of Gambetta Street, just below Jean Ladignac Square.
