Saint Anthony of Padua, born Fernando Martins de Bulhões in 1195, was a renowned Portuguese Catholic priest and Franciscan friar. He hails from Lisbon, where he was raised by his affluent family, before passing away in Padua, Italy on June 13, 1231. Esteemed for his powerful sermons and profound understanding of scripture, Anthony of Lisbon earned rapid canonization as the second-most-quickly recognized saint after Peter of Verona. On January 16, 1946, he was proclaimed a Doctor of the Church. Additionally, Anthony is revered as the patron saint of finding lost items or people.
