Sailboat Hatch Fan Mount
thingiverse
This is a mount for attaching a fan on the hatch of a boat, designed to expel hot air from within. The concept is similar to another design that utilizes suction cups and costs $200. The Caframo 757 12v fan is the primary model in mind, but this mount can be adapted to work with other fan models as well. To create the mount, print the base and four mount points. Attach these mounts to the hatch using double-sided tape, specifically the strong 3m outdoor-grade variety. Before application, ensure the surface is clean with alcohol. The round shape of the mounts allows for effortless alignment, and their appearance isn't unappealing when the fan is turned off. The base connects to the mounts via small metal pins, enabling easy removal when needed. To achieve optimal results, print the mount with at least three layers and 20% infill. Although not extensively tested, this design presents a promising alternative to suction cups. The double-sided tape's durability under sunlight remains uncertain, but it is likely superior to suction cups.
