Safety Whistle
thingiverse
This is The Little Giant. This safety whistle is tiny enough to carry anywhere I included two whistles - the smallest one hits about 98 decibels, while the larger one gets around 102 decibels. Created these for the #MakeItLoud challenge. Print Settings: Rafts: No Supports: No Infill: 25% Notes: A very simple design for easy printing. Be sure to print on its side so you get a clean, sharp angle for the opening. I used ABS plastic but it should be fine with any filament. How I Designed This When starting this project, I had no idea how a whistle even worked - and oddly enough, a Google search didn't help much. All I could find was that air turbulence caused by air crossing each other causes it to whistle; otherwise, nothing. To figure this out, I performed a Design of Experiments to determine the best configuration. It took several attempts just to get the thing to whistle at all, but once I did, I tried different configurations.
