Safety Latch
thingiverse
This safety latch ensures secure drawers and cupboard doors, safeguarding young kids from accessing restricted areas. With a variety of designs available, this model maintains simplicity and functionality. Printable on most reprap printers, customization is possible with adjustments to screw holes if needed. Constructive feedback, improvements, and alternative designs are welcomed. Designed using Tinkercad, Part A and B can be edited online. To assemble, attach Part B to the door/drawer using two small wood screws, aligning it for less than 1mm clearance with the furniture surface when closed. Next, secure Part A onto the furniture surface via two wood screws. When closing the door/drawer, the latch should snap shut as Part A locks Part B in place. To open, force is required due to latch design, deterring young children but not foolproof against older ones; keep hazardous items locked away.
