Safety Cage Cover (EK Archery RX Adder)
prusaprinters
Designed for EK Archery's Cobra RX Adder crossbow. There is a gap where the bolt guide rail meets the safety cage into which bolt nocks might dive too deep and jam the crossbow. This part covers said gap and should make the repeating operation a bit more reliable. Printing instructionsMaterial: Polycarbonate recommended for maximum strength (mine is printed with Polymaker PolyMax PC) but PETG should be fine as well. There is not much force applied to the parts during operation.0.4mm nozzle0.1mm layer height3 perimetersInfill: 30% honeycombSupports: offDetect bridging perimeters: onIroning: on (all top surfaces)Print bed: any should do (mine is printed on the smooth PEI sheet)Printing time is roughly 20 min. Assembly instructionsYou will have to disassemble (not just field strip) your crossbow in order to swap the safety block. It's not hard and doesn't take too long, but it requires very special tools not everyone might have at home (particularly not Europeans). You'll need Allen keys (Inbus) in 3/32" and 5/64", and yes you read that right, they need to be denominated in imperial units, not metric ones. There are tiny sizing differences.Link to PDF with crossbow disassembly instructions: Google Drive (not mine)Follow this guide until the point where you remove the two screws securing the bolt guide rail to the safety cage. Remove these two screws. Nudge the bolt guide rail a little bit upwards.Insert the printed rail into the printed socket plate with the screw holes so that the thick part with the small protrusion at the end disappears in the socket part; you might need some force to get it all the way in. Insert this assembly through the gap between the prongs at the end of the metal bolt guide rail. Align the screw holes in the printed part with the screw holes in the safety cage. Re-seat the bolt guide rail, then reinsert and tighten the screws. Follow the guide in reverse order from there to reassemble the crossbow.
