Safer Merged Air Nozzle for K40
thingiverse
Due to the flawed design of these K40 laser cutters, any upward force applied to the nozzle directly impacts the lens, causing it to shatter easily. Although the merged air nozzle design has its benefits, it lacks stability and can become detached due to its friction fit attachment method, posing a significant risk to the lens. This upgraded version rectifies this issue by employing an M3 screw and nut to securely attach around the head, eliminating any upward force that could compromise the lens. The design accommodates a 1/4" ID tube, a convenient size considering many tubes have a 3/8" OD which fits snugly within the commonly used 10mmx15mm drag chains. Theoretically, the gap at the top may reduce airflow out of the nozzle, but in my setup, I can still feel the air flowing. However, if this becomes an issue, a small amount of silicone or hot glue can be applied to fill the gap effectively.
