Edge guard that snaps onto the top of an empty Kikkoman soy sauce tub, and allows you to safely use it as a planter (or as a general container perhaps?)

0. WEAR SAFETY GLOVES AND GLASSES!
1. Carefully remove the top of your used tub using a rotary cutter, tinsnips, or a hacksaw. (Don't worry too much about the edge quality).
2. If your cut edge is too clean, carefully use a set of flat pliers to add some variation to the edge (around 2mm deviation). This will allow the ‘barbs’ on the inside of the edge guard (see cross section photo) to snap onto the tin (see pre-guard photo for an idea of how varied my edge was).
3. Place the edge guard onto the cut edge of the tin, make sure it is seated into the slot all the way around, then carefully tap the corners to fully seat the edge (it should be aligned straight with the honeycomb pattern on all sides). You may use a rubber mallet for this if required, but be careful not to deform the tin!
4. You may wish to seal any areas which can rust internally, or any scratches in the tin paint. Use some clear nail polish, or some polyurethane.
5. Add plants?
