The project involves designing an engine & transmission mount combo using 0.1" thick sheet metal measuring 12" x 24", costing approximately $46 USD. A 200lb static load analysis study was conducted, which is nearly three times the actual weight of the Briggs & Stratton engine (70lb) plus 0.5lb of fuel. The mission involves constraining the gearbox as the centerline and building around it with the engine stacked to achieve a short wheelbase and loading the rear-wheel with the weight of the power-train assembly, with axles and CVTech connecting directly to Dana H12. Key components include the Briggs & Stratton SAE Baja 305cc, 10HP petrol engine, CVTech gearbox, and Dana H12 gearbox. Recent updates include Version 3 of the stacked power-train assembly (6/10/2019), FEA using Creo Simulate (5/19/2019 & 7/14/2018), engine and gearbox mounts reducing sheet metal thickness (7/13/2018), clearances checked and confirmed (7/7/2018), engine mount slots (5/10/2018), gussets to reinforce the engine support (4/30/2018), and a gearbox mount adapter with bolt holes for adjusting the angle and height orientation of the gearbox (4/30/2018).
