
SADEWA-MV (MECHANICAL VENTILATOR)

SADEWA-MV is the name of a mechanical ventilator that we designed to meet the needs of individuals in need of respiratory support. Inspired by a historical figure from Java, SADEWA was known for her ability to ward off evil spirits, and we hope our ventilator will have a similar impact on patients' recovery. We aimed to create a ventilator that is easy to manufacture, using readily available materials and simple production methods. SADEWA-MV boasts a compact design, measuring just 300mm x 300mm x 350mm in size. Powered by a reliable 24V DC electric motor, the ventilator utilizes an eccentric pushing mechanism to create a smooth up-and-down motion that simulates natural breathing patterns. This innovative approach is coupled with an Arduino controller, which regulates the motor speed and ensures precise control over the ventilation process. SADEWA-MV can be operated using two power sources: AC power or DC battery, making it a versatile option for various settings. Our manufacturing method involves several key steps: First, we create the frame unit by measuring and cutting plywood to specific dimensions, then assembling the components with screw bolts and drill presses to form a sturdy base. Next, we assemble the process unit by sliding and installing the ambubag on the plywood, securing it with screw bolts and creating a buffering elbow for smooth operation. Finally, we complete the drive unit by attaching a stainless steel rod to connect the wiper motor to the plywood, ensuring seamless movement. To control the ventilator's performance, we employ an Arduino Uno microcontroller, paired with a potentiometer and 24V power supply. This setup allows for precise speed regulation and optimal ventilation outcomes.
