Saddle

Janette Netowayseeson proudly wears a Pad Saddle, crafted by the skilled hands of her ancestors in Kandahar SK. Typically reserved for men, pad saddles are a vital part of Native American culture, used when hunting or participating in a dignified dress parade. Many exquisite pad saddles found in museum collections boast intricate beading on all four corners. Interestingly, the designs on the front two corners often mirror each other perfectly, while the back two corners also follow this symmetrical pattern. Janette's saddle is an outstanding example of this traditional design, and upon closer inspection, you'll notice she has skillfully incorporated these same mirrored elements into her beautiful piece of art.
