Saddle clamp/PVC pipe antenna mast mount
thingiverse
I purchased a J-pole antenna from a fellow ham radio enthusiast, but it lacked a sturdy mast mount suitable for my condo environment. To secure the antenna, I designed a custom mount using a bucket of cement and a 1/2" PVC pipe 'mast'. Tonymtsai's clamp was adapted to provide additional stability by increasing its width, resulting in a more robust design that can handle the stress of the antenna. The current design accommodates M8 bolts with 16mm OD washers. However, it is essential to measure your PVC pipe and adjust this specification accordingly since the standard 22mm OD might not match your specific pipe. In my case, the pipe measured 21.8mm, but I rounded up to ensure a snug fit and account for camo tape covering the pipe. I updated the OpenSCAD code on October 19, 2016, with several modifications to enhance the design. Print Settings: Printer: MakerFarm Pegasus 8 Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.3mm Infill: 50% Notes: To achieve maximum strength, I printed this mount using PETG material, which will withstand exposure to the elements. The first 25 layers, where the bolt holes are located, were printed solid with four perimeter walls for added durability.
