Sacred Boat at The British Museum, London
myminifactory
This ceremonial boat sculpture proudly displayed a statue of Queen Mutemwia. A significant portion of the queen's head, as seen in the accompanying photograph, is also part of the British Museum's impressive collection. The name Mutemwia translates to 'the goddess Mut in her sacred vessel.' Flanking the back of the statue are elegantly carved vulture wings. Since Mut is often depicted as a vulture, this sculpture cleverly juxtaposes the queen's name with its visual representation.
