This custom piece fits snugly onto my desk with a secure friction fit along its sides, specifically designed for the leg of my desk. I'm not entirely sure what type of Ikea desk I have, but it's likely to be the "Malm" desk without the pull-out panel; I'll confirm this later. To organize my workspace, I've got two Sabrent USB splitters that help connect various external hard drives and peripherals like a drawing tablet, keyboard, and external audio card. These custom holders simply keep the splitters in place on my desk, adding a touch of neatness and order to my setup. The original design, v1, works perfectly but has one minor flaw: its side walls are slightly too short. To address this issue, I created version 3 with extended side walls, ensuring that the splitters remain securely within the housing. Unfortunately, due to other projects and commitments, I haven't had a chance to print out v3 yet, so you'll see images of the 'v1' version in action. To secure the USB splitters inside the housing, I'm using velcro strips from Amazon on the back prongs. This design includes an .iges file for anyone who wants to modify it to fit their own desk or use it as a reference point for creating something similar. The distance between the inner walls of the back prongs is set exactly to match the width of my desk leg, resulting in a snug friction fit. Given that the splitters are relatively light, this design works well; however, if you're dealing with heavier peripherals, you might want to consider making it a press-fit instead.
