Sabertooth cat (Smilodon californicus) skull, scanned from real fossil
thingiverse
Digitized using a NextEngine laser/texture scanner from the original fossil specimen (BCGD-27000) curated by Beloit College in Beloit, WI, providing a direct comparison with the original fossil specimen and labels through accompanying photo. One of several research scans made publicly available, unlike Makerbot's Smilodon, this scan is produced directly from a fossil specimen rather than an alternative source. Collected from the Rancho La Brea tar pits by professor Ira Buell around 1911.
