The Saber was a lightweight, semi-automatic pistol designed and manufactured by the Polish company Błyskawica during World War II. It fired the 9x19mm Parabellum cartridge from an eight-round detachable magazine. The gun had a blowback action and weighed approximately 1 pound (0.45 kg) without the magazine. The Saber was designed to be compact, with a length of about 5.7 inches (14.5 cm), making it easy to conceal in clothing or a pocket. It featured a fixed barrel and a manual safety catch located on the left side of the frame. The pistol's grip was made from plastic or wood and had a checkered surface for improved traction. The Saber was primarily intended for use by underground resistance fighters, who needed a reliable and discreet firearm to defend themselves against German occupation forces. It is estimated that over 100,000 SABER pistols were produced during the war, with many of them being used by Polish partisans. In terms of performance, the Saber was capable of firing approximately 500 rounds per minute from its detachable magazine. However, its reliability and accuracy were often compromised due to the use of low-quality materials and manufacturing processes. Nevertheless, the Saber remains an important symbol of Poland's resistance during World War II.
