This vent uses magnets to hold the vent either open or closed. All the interior parts are made of nylon to stand up to the salt water. This design uses magnets instead of any kind of mechanism to prevent salt water and grim from disrupting use. The screen shots show the vent both open and closed. There is a mesh liner to prevent water from reaching the cabin while the vent is open. The top of the vent can easily withstand being walked on and can support the weight. O-rings can easily be added to seal the vent when it is closed to prevent air and water from entering the cabin.
