The main aim here was to make the individual components easier to understand and work with. Two suitable manufacturing methods are injection-molding and die-casting. The base is essentially the main framework that other components connect to. It acts like a natural dam or splash guard, preventing water from seeping into the vent area by traveling upward against gravity. A vital part of this design is molded into the base – it's the lower section of the helical lift system. On the underside, fasteners hold the outer cover securely in place. Note: The engineering community suggested I include an alternative vent seal – a removable cap that completely closes off the opening from the start.
