The Swedish automaker Saab produced the executive car, Saab 9-5. Debuting in 1997, it replaced the Saab 9000 for the 1998 model year and represented a significant advancement for the company. The 9-5 arrived in the US in spring of 1998 for the 1999 model year. On September 15, 2009, the Frankfurt Motor Show saw the unveiling of the second generation 9-5, with production commencing in June 2010. This was the first Saab launched under Spyker Cars' ownership despite being developed mostly under GM's tenure.
