S800 FPV Wing Wingtip/Winglet
thingiverse
I designed these wingtips after breaking my S800's wingtips. The shape is inspired by the TBS Caipirinha V2, but with similar dimensions. Looking for more S800 mods? I have a post documenting the mods and build tips I've done to my S800: https://oscarliang.com/s800-fpv-wing-upgrades-build-tips-tricks/ Performance My 3D printed wingtips are almost identical in performance to the original, but with one key difference: they fly slightly more locked in. When you roll and stop, it has less wobble. How to Use? These wingtips are designed to be removable, so you can use them with a detachable wingtip mount: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2506307 Simply print out "part 1," insert some M3 nuts, glue it to your wing, and attach my wingtips using M3 10mm screws and a washer for added durability. You can also glue these winglets directly onto the wing if you prefer. Note that these winglets are slightly heavier than the original foam winglets, so be sure to adjust the CG accordingly. Two Versions There are two versions available: normal and lite. The lite version is about 30-40% lighter and slightly smaller, but requires a few layers of packing tape before installation. The normal version is ready to use after printing. I personally prefer the Lite version for its better CG and surprising durability. How to Print? I print my wingtips with ABS material, which seems durable enough. I recommend 6-15% infill depending on your preference of strength vs. weight, and a Tri-Hexagon or Honey Comb pattern. Printing settings: Layer height: 0.2mm Wall line count: 3 Top layers: 4 Bottom layers: 3 I printed mine with 6% infill, and it's withstood minor crashes without breaking. I'm confident that landing shouldn't be a problem either.
