S5 Galaxy Phone Case

Are you still using a phone that came out in 2014? Is it the Samsung Galaxy S5? Do you have an Otterbox Commuter Case? Are you looking to still use the soft rubber portion of the case, but replace the hard plastic part with a 3d printed version that offers less protection? You probably said no to every single one of those questions, but if not- wow, you're in luck! This might be one of my favorite things I've ever printed though! I used these for several months and they held up well (other than being kinda dirty for pictures). Using the multipass multicolor technique that Devin Montes of MakeAnything describes here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D7FiT5VqLSg I made a case for my phone at the time. By printing the case flat to begin, I was able to use a lighter to slowly roll up the sides to fit the curvature of the case really really nicely while still having a full color print. Print Settings Printer Brand: Creality Printer: CR-10Rafts: No Supports: No Filament: Hatchbox PLA Notes: Because Cura didn't have any kind of "line model origins together" feature at the time I made this (maybe they do now? IDK) I created some perimeters around to make sure each color was perfectly lined up. In order to not print that, turn off Cura's "automatically drop models to the build plate" and change the z height of each piece to -1. Now, make sure to turn on "z hop on retraction" to avoid hitting parts already printed. Then print them in the order of names (A then B then C) without removing anything between prints. Post-Printing After printing, use a lighter to soften the outsides and very slowly warm one part and then press it against the soft rubber case to match the curvatures. Don't over do it! It's very easy to make the material too warm and lose control. Category: Mobile Phone
