S42B Stepper Control Panel
thingiverse
I recently installed two Bigtree S42B Closed Loop Stepper motors onto my Tronxy X5S printer (X & Y axis). These stepper motors promises to eliminate layer shift as the are a closed loop motor that should guarantee accurate positioning and no skipped steps! Although I've only completed the conversion a week ago or so, so far, things are working well! This project includes a document that shows the installation details (See PDF document) for my X5S printer running a Bigtree SKR 1.4Turbo controller board. I've included details of the MARLIN code updates needed to complete the install. While some of the details are X5S specific, I hope that others considering an S42B upgrade their printers will find these notes helpful. The S42B stepper includes a nice control panel for setting various motor options, however, I found that the control panel and display could not be accessed or seen once I mounted the steppers onto my printer. To overcome this limitation, I design a printable "right-angle-mount" bracket that can be used to reposition the display into an easy to see location. While this improves the ergonomics of the S42B, it does require modification to the S42B circuit board and should only be undertaken by those skilled in soldering and modifying circuits. I hope you find this information helpful! Take care and stay safe!
