The S-75 Dvina, a Soviet-designed surface-to-air missile system with command guidance, was developed in 1953. Created by NPO Almaz (led by A.A. Raspletin) and MKB Fakel (headed by P.D. Gryushin), it entered service in the USSR in 1957. Featuring a normal aerodynamic design, the missile had two stages: a solid-fueled booster and a liquid-fueled main stage, allowing for high initial speed from a tilted launch. This system became one of the most widely deployed air defense systems in history due to its high altitude capabilities.
