Rzeppa Joint
grabcad
While cleaning up folders, I came across my attempt at a Rzeppa Joint for my RC. I aimed to create a constant velocity flexible joint, utilizing the Rzeppa Joint concept. The design works surprisingly well; however, I couldn't feasibly reduce the size any further to clear my RC mounts. My printer couldn't handle much smaller dimensions, and this was the end result. Ultimately, it was superseded by a simpler universal joint, which proved sufficient. This version was the smallest my printer could handle and it works quite well, apart from the flimsy ball cage, which often snaps. The design requires 6 x 3mm metal balls. The driven and driving shaft have a 6 splined insert and are approximately 6mm in diameter. The outer race is around 35mm in diamter.
