Ryobi weed trimmer P2008 repair and parts
thingiverse
The deflector of my Ryobi weed trimmer broke off from the motor base due to fatigue. I have made an adaptor ring that fit the deflector and can be secure with screws to the broken section of the motor head. I have also included a spool retainer cap. The cutter support plate will need to be grinded down a few milimeters to compensate for the thickness of the new ring. Otherwise the wire will not be cut at the proper length. I used a die grinder to slowly removed material from the support and front edge of the deflector in that area. The ring could also be scale down in the z axes to make it thinner. To install the ring the motor housing will need to be opened in order to hold on to the shaft to removed the cutting head. Then partially reassembled to drill the holes a the right location depending of the amount o material left on motor flange. Once the holes for the screw have been drilled. The motor housing will need to opened once again to reinstall the cutting head. At this time the ring should be loose between the head and the motor housing before you close it. These last two versions of the trimmer spool retainer cap have been updated with improved tolerance to make them easier to remove and install. the main difference is a small increase in the bottom thickness with version 07.
