The Ryobi S605D 1/4 Sheet Dustless Sander is an outdated palm sander that fails to live up to its dustless claim. The dust collector supplied with the Ryobi is woefully ineffective, relying on a passive collection system. This adapter allows users to tap into their shop vacuum's active dust-collecting capabilities. Ensure you puncture holes in your sandpaper as directed to optimize dust removal efficiency. Moreover, it's advisable to pipe the vacuum output out a window, as the vacuum itself is not a perfect filter. The original dust collector can be removed by gently tugging upwards near the sander's body. This adapter slides on in a similar motion, pushed down into place. The hose portion of the adapter, which connects to the vacuum hose, is designed to fit snugly inside it (refer to picture). If necessary, users can modify their hose using tape or by redesigning it with a CAD package. It's essential to wear a mask even when utilizing this adapter.
