The author created a propane conversion carburetor for their old Ryobi 960r weedeater while waiting for the rebuild kit to arrive. The project may work with other small 4-cycle engines using Walbro brand carburetors, but it's not perfected yet. It allowed them to complete yard work. They aimed to use existing materials instead of buying more junk. However, propane conversion is only suitable for 4-cycle engines as 2-cycles may burn out due to lack of lubrication. Instructions include using ABS or Nylon for printing, avoiding PLA due to its inability to withstand engine temperatures. The setup used a camp stove master valve and 3/8" clear PVC tubing connected to the carburetor. An optional flow regulator can improve performance. Starting issues may arise from propane flooding, which can be remedied by removing the air filter cover or blowing into the carb before starting. The engine might not run smoothly without a flow regulator, but it was omitted in this setup to stick to existing materials.
